Exterior Wash Protocols

Minimising risk. Maximising cleanliness. The science of the safe wash.

The Safe Wash Theory

Improper washing is the leading cause of swirl marks and paint degradation. The zentfunharbr. methodology relies on chemical lifting prior to physical contact.

1. Wheels and Arches First

Wheels harbour brake dust, a highly abrasive iron particulate. Cleaning wheels first prevents this contamination from splashing onto cleansed paintwork. Dedicated wheel brushes and non-acidic cleaners are recommended for routine maintenance.

2. The Pre-Wash Stage (Snow Foam)

A thick layer of snow foam or citrus pre-wash is applied to the dry or lightly rinsed vehicle. This dwells, encapsulating dirt and softening bug residue. Rinsing this away removes the heavy grit that would otherwise cause scratches during the contact wash.

3. The Contact Wash

Utilising high-quality wash mitts (microfibre or lambswool) rather than traditional sponges. Sponges trap dirt on the surface; mitts draw it deep into the fibres, away from the paint. Always wash from the top down, leaving the dirtiest lower sections until last.

4. Safe Drying

Water spots occur when mineral-heavy water evaporates on the clear coat. We advise using plush drying towels and patting the surface dry, or using forced air (car dryers) for crevices, grilles, and mirrors to prevent later drips.
